SEIU critical of water lease plan

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The union representing Allentown's water and sewer workers claims Mayor Ed Pawlowski is failing to keep his promise to protect their pensions.

The union is citing a water and sewer lease proposal it claims would eliminate pension protections.

The union says the proposal's wording could make it possible for workers to receive no pension.

Pawlowski responded with a statement saying the proposal does in fact provide for a fair retirement plan.

He says the agreement would also guarantee every employee a job at their current rate of pay.
