Senator Casey unveils Caregiver Corps bill in Easton

EASTON, Pa. - Senator Bob Casey was in Easton Wednesday to talk about a new proposal that he says will help those who help others.

The Senator unveiled his Caregiver Corps bill at the YMCA Wednesday morning.

The plan would connect the Department of Health and Human Services with local volunteers so they're better connected to families in need of care-givers.

"There are a lot of volunteers, but we need legislation to give more structure so that local volunteer opportunities can be maximized, and to help the caregiver," Casey said.

Under the proposal, the Health and Human Services Department would also train local groups to implement Caregiver Corps programs.

The bill still needs to be approved by lawmakers.
