Slate Belt man to register as lifetime sex offender

BANGOR, Pa. - A Slate Belt man was sentenced Friday after he pleaded guilty to aggravated indecent assault to complainants less than 13 years old.

Thomas Zeiber faces 44 to 88 months in state prison, followed by eight years of consecutive supervision, according to the Northampton County DA's office. The judge also ordered Zeiber to register as a lifetime sex offender.

Bangor police say the first victim reported to authorities in December 2016 that Zeiber sexually assaulted him when he was six, seven and eight years old, according to court records. The now 12-year-old victim alleged Zeiber also sexually assaulted another boy, according to records.

Investigators interviewed the second victim in January, and he also said Zeiber assaulted him during the same time frame described by the first victim. They said the attacks happened in the bedroom of Zeiber’s then North Second Street apartment.

The victims said Zeiber would make them place truth or dare, “which quickly turned into dare or dare” in exchange for letting the boys play his PlayStation or with toys he provided, according to records. Investigators said Zeiber would dare the boys to get naked and then make the victims dare him to get naked.

The victims stated Zeiber would perform sex acts on them and force them to perform sex acts on each other.
