St. Luke's, Blue Mountain Health System announce merger

LEHIGHTON, Pa. - St. Luke's University Health Network is growing.

Gnaden Huetten and Palmerton hospitals, which are part of Blue Mountain Health System, will merge with St. Luke's, the health networks announced at a news conference in Lehighton Wednesday.

The agreement between Blue Mountain and St. Luke's was unanimously approved by both organizations' Board of Trustees.

"We now have an incredible opportunity to raise the level of healthcare in Carbon and neighboring counties and provide residents with even greater access to care," said Andrew E. Harris, president and CEO of Blue Mountain Health System.

Blue Mountain is a non-profit, community health system, with Gnaden Huetten Hospital in Lehighton and Palmerton Hospital.
