State Rep. Ryan Mackenzie exits congressional race

EMMAUS, Pa. - Republican State Representative Ryan Mackenzie announced Friday he's exiting the race for Congress in the new 7th District.

“When the Supreme Court threw the congressional elections into upheaval through its overreach and activism, I was approached by residents of all parties from my State House district to circulate nominating petitions for that office,” Mackenzie stated. “I did that and have now officially filed for State Representative. I feel an obligation to answer the request of the people I serve and focus on re-election to the state House.”

Mackenzie will now have a potential primary election opponent in addition to a general election opponent for the State House.

“I look forward to once again presenting my record as a proven, effective and independent representative before the voters to earn their support,” Mackenzie stated in a news release.
