Stranger helps free 2 young children from burning car on Route 33

BUSHKILL TWP., Pa. - Police in Northampton County are trying to locate a stranger who helped free two young children from a burning car on Route 33.

State police said it happened around 1:30 p.m. Sunday on Route 33 North in Bushkill Township at mile marker 12.6.

A car that was smoking pulled over. As flames were seen coming from under the car, an unknown male stopped and helped a mother remove her 2-year-old and 2-month-old sons form the car before it became engulfed in flames.

No one was injured. Route 33 was shut down for a short period of time until the fire was brought under control.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call State Police in Belfast. The male who helped free the children is asked to call state police.
