Students protest Allentown School District's cuts

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - About two dozen high school and college students hit the streets of Allentown Wednesday night to protest the school board's plan to cut 74 teaching positions.

69 News was at Ninth and Turner streets as the students handed out pamphlets and made an outdoor presentation with a projector.

They say they're also concerned about the district's dropout rate.

Just last week the Allentown School Board approved a proposal to cut 100 jobs, 74 of them teachers' jobs.

The board could alter its decision before the final budget is ratified at the end of June.
