Students show their skills in hands-on competition

SkillsUSA competition in Allentown

ALLENTOWN, Pa - Students in the Lehigh Valley get to show off their skills on Wednesday. 

The District 11 SkillsUSA Championships are at the Agri-Plex in Allentown. 

More than 450 students will compete in over 50 different categories.

Employers will also be on hand, seeking new talent in their fields.  technolo

Many local companies also donated supplies and will be judging the events.

Skills include diesel technology, nursing, masonry, cake decorating, welding, web design, and more!

Winners of the competitions will have a chance to move on to state and national SkillsUSA Championships.

SkillsUSA is free and open for the public to attend.

Competitions start around 9:30 Wednesday morning, but many of the skills will be most visual and complete in the afternoon.
