EASTON, Pa. - Easton police are investigating a second suspicious incident this week that involves children and a blue Jeep Cherokee.
In the most recent incident, police were told that at about 9 p.m. Thursday, a dark blue Jeep Cherokee that was traveling in the 1300 block of Lehigh Street stopped near a nine-year-old boy.
The child told police that the driver opened his door to the vehicle, but did not say anything.
The boy ran away.
The driver was described as a white male with gray hair.
The vehicle was last observed traveling east on Lehigh Street.
The described vehicle was similar in make and model to the description of a vehicle involved in another suspicious incident Monday evening near a playground in the 1100 block of Spring Garden Street.
In that incident, a white male motioned for a five-year-old girl to come closer to his Cherokee.
When the child did not enter the vehicle, the man drove away without saying anything. That event prompted a district-wide email to parents in the Easton Area School District.
Parents who live near the park said the sightings have put them on high alert and made them feel uneasy.
"Makes me very nervous to even let my child even go out on the front sidewalk. It only takes one second," said Genevieve Palmer, a parent.
In the Monday evening incident, the suspect was described as a male in his 40s or 50s with salt and pepper hair and a full beard.
Police have released a surveillance photo of that vehicle.
However, the vehicle in Thursday's incident was described as darker in color.
Easton police are still seeking the public's assistance in locating the blue Jeep Cherokee.
They report they have received numerous reports from the public regarding the suspect vehicle, which continue to be investigated.
