The holiday spirit gets a workout in Allentown

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - It's an unlikely place to spend your Christmas Eve -- at Bruce John's holiday spin class at Steel Fitness Premier in Allentown.

"Bruce he pumps us all up," said Kendelle Conrad of Emmaus.

"When he decorates for Christmas it's just even more fun than it usually is," added Kendelle's sister, Caroline Conrad. "Everybody rocks out and he does blinking lights for all of his songs."

This is the class where gingerbread ladies, Christmas trees and reindeer come to work out so they can really enjoy holiday eating.

"The stuffing my face comes later. This allows me to do that. It's nice to burn some calories early in the morning so I don't feel so bad about myself later" said Caroline Conrad.

John said he came up with this idea by mixing his love for spin and Christmas music.

"I love Trans Siberian Orchestra and I saw them and I also said I think I can incorporate both," said John.

The orchestra's "Carol of the Bells" is one of many songs incorporated into the class.

"I try to gear toward all levels of fitness. All ages and make it a little more fun for them than just sitting and riding a bike," said John.

It takes John about 13 hours to decorate the studio. He buys all the decorations himself. He said this is his way of spreading holiday cheer.

"I feed off them they feed off of me they walk out of here smiling and there is nothing better than one somebody says great class," said John.
