Thousands of pounds of food collected through drive

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Hundreds of people in the Lehigh Valley will have food on their tables this holiday season thanks to donations.

More than 13,000 pounds of food was delivered to the Second Harvest Food Bank in Allentown on Friday.

The food was collected through the Toyota Tundra Food Drive. The director of Second Harvest said hunger is a silent disability.

"Children who don't eat a nourishing meal can't study, can't learn. Adults who are working, who are hungry, have a hard time concentrating on the job, and no senior citizen should ever have to make a choice between turning up thermostat two degrees and having food on the table," said Ann McManus, the food bank's director.

WFMZ-TV was one of the sponsors of the drive.
