Three-vehicle accident blocks Route 22 in Whitehall

WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A three-vehicle accident closed eastbound lanes of Route 22 Thursday afternoon  in Whitehall Township, Lehigh County.

At 2:45 p.m., eastbound lanes were completely blocked and traffic was backed up as far west as the Interstate 78 split.

Although several ambulances responded, state police reported no one was injured.

Police said the accident occurred at mile marker 320.8.

A school bus full of children was pulled over at the accident scene, but it could not be determined if the bus was involved.

It appeared that one car might have been hit from behind and spun around. It may have struck a larger SUV or pick-up truck that was behind it.
