Truck driver killed in tractor trailer crash

U. MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. - Authorities are investigating a crash that killed a truck driver from West Virginia.

The Lehigh County Coroner's Office announced Friday that Rockwell Beam, of Great Cacapon, W.V., died at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest in Salisbury Township on Thursday. The 48-year-old was pronounced dead at 6:44 p.m.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine an exact cause of death.

Beam's tractor trailer was involved a crash along Interstate 78 about 10 p.m. Wednesday in Upper Macungie Township. His truck collided with another tractor trailer at mile marker 51.9.

Pennsylvania State Police and the coroner's office are conducting the investigation.
