Upper Macungie presents distinguished service award

BREINIGSVILLE, Pa. - At their Thursday evening meeting, the Upper Macungie Board of Supervisors presented a distinguished service award to the outgoing vice chairman of the township's planning commission, for more than 19 years of service to the township.

Supervisor Chair Jim Brunell displayed a recognition certificate for Ken Pavkovic who, according to Brunell "decided to step down from the planning commission to pursue other interests".

Pavkovic was absent from the meeting due to other commitments.

Brunell commented that, "We're really going to miss Ken."

Pavkovic's term as a township planner was not set to expire until the end of next year.

The supervisors appointed Christopher Walls to fill the vacancy left by Pavkovic's resignation.

Township community development director Daren Martocci remarked that Walls is experienced in zoning code enforcement and would be highly adaptable to the position's skills requirements at the start of his service.

Other business

The supervisors approved changing the name of Abigail Lane to Krocks Road, since driveway constructions on Abigail were completed allowing for full access to Krocks Road. Officials noted that nearly a dozen residents signed a petition requesting the name change.

In addition, the board approved the sale of a 2008 township pickup truck to North Whitehall township for $12,500 and also approved the appointment of Duane Dellecker as township flood plain administrator.
