Vehicle crashes into Boston Market in Allentown

Driver, 80, taken from scene in handcuffs to DUI processing center

SUV plows into restaurant

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - An SUV made a new drive-through at a Boston Market restaurant in Allentown Tuesday.

An 80 year-old man drove his vehicle through a window at the Boston Market, at 385 S. Cedar Crest Boulevard in the Cedar Point Shopping Center around 7:15 p.m.

Captain Glen Dorney with Allentown Police said the driver was taken to a DUI center in handcuffs for processing immediately after the accident.

The SUV hit a 40 year-old female patron in the restaurant. She suffered minor injuries and was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital on Cedar Crest Boulevard.

An employee at the restaurant saw the whole incident unfold.

"All we hear is boom, and glass flies everywhere. It was like a movie, like an action movie. You see this, it was like an action movie. It was really crazy," said Mitch Barne.

Police are still investigating the crash.
