Vehicle plows into Allentown gas station

No injuries reported

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - For reasons not yet determined, an SUV drove into the front of the Hess gas station at 19th and Tilghman Streets in Allentown around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Allentown police report items on racks inside the store went flying when the car hit the building and some of them struck a clerk working there.

The clerk was evaluated at the scene, but did not have to be taken to a hospital.

The unidentified driver was not injured, according to police, and no passengers were in the SUV.

The accident remains under investigation and the store is closed until further notice.

City inspectors shut it down so they can check the condition of wiring in the wall.
