Visitors from near and far travel to Musikfest in Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - As the festivities continue at Musikfest, Bethlehem is hosting people from all over the country and the world.

"It's about a five hour drive but I love it. I went to Lehigh and it's one of the most happy times of my year to come to Musikfest," said John Gorcsan, who's from the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh.

Pat Stringfellow from Camden, Arkansas was pleased her visit to see relatives coincided with the festival.

"I'm excited. Arkansas has one, a music fest, what's called Riverfest and it's in May and I didn't get to go to it this year so now I'm here getting to go to this one," she said.

Her son, Scot Fain, lives in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.

"My mom's in town, always looking for something unique and fun to do when she's in, so we're at Musikfest today," he told 69 News.

Fran Pooley from Palo Alto, California was also excited her trip east to see family happened during the festivities.

"It turns out it happened to be the Musikfest week, which is great," she said.

Lucky locals don't have to worry about driving far at all.

"People across the world seem to come here and, hey, we have it in our backyard, it's great," said one man from Coplay.

There are also more than 300 performers from seven countries at the 31st Musikfest.

"We are from the Netherlands," said Erwin Vorstermans, with a group that does stilt walking in dinosaur costumes and walks around the crowd.

"It's a nice atmosphere, good people," he said.

According to ArtsQuest, last year people visited from 40 states and from countries including Germany, England, Canada and Puerto Rico.
