Walnutport teen charged in fatal crash

NORTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. - A Northampton County teenager was charged Monday for allegedly causing an accident that killed a 65-year-old woman two months ago.

Courtney Quinn, 19, of Walnutport, was charged with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter and related charges.

Quinn was driving north on Route 145 in North Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, around 8:40 a.m. on April 12 when her car crossed into the oncoming lane and hit a vehicle driven by Jennifer Ebert, also of Walnutport, officials said.

Ebert and Quinn were both seriously injured and taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township, Lehigh County. A juvenile passenger in Ebert's car was also taken to the hospital.

Ebert died of her injuries around 2:15 p..m. that day.

Investigators said Quinn was speeding at the time of the crash, going 70 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Quinn was released on $50,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 15.
