Water main break causes boil-water advisory in Emmaus

EMMAUS BOROUGH, Pa. - A boil-water advisory has been issued for sections of Emmaus Borough after a water main broke Friday at around 1:15 p.m. in the 700 block of Chestnut Street.

The affected neighborhoods include the 600 through 800 blocks of Chestnut, Walnut, Bank and Green streets. The first to 100 blocks of Macungie Avenue and 8th Street were also included in the advisory.

The water main break cause a loss of pressure in parts of the water system which has increased the odds that water in the above areas could contain disease-causing organisms, according to the borough.

The borough plans to keep the advisory in place until the water passes two days of testing, but says they will send customers a phone message when water is once again potable.

More information can be found on the borough's website.
