Weekend closure of Pennsylvania Turnpike to cause detours

A planned weekend closure is set for Oct. 13 through Oct. 16 for the Northeastern extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

I-476 will be closed in Lehigh and Carbon counties as construction workers replace a bridge.

According to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, the closure will take place 9 p.m. Friday and remain in place until 4 a.m. Monday.

Detour exits for this closure are the Lehigh Valley Interchange (Exit 56) for northbound traffic and the Pocono Interchange (Exit 95) for southbound traffic. The detour directs motorists to Route 22, Route 33 and Interstate 80.
