Whitehall has concerns about MacArthur development

WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. - The Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners discussed a resolution giving conditional approval to land development plans for the proposed Eagles View Townes development at its Monday workshop meeting.

The developer intends to build 38 townhouses on 7.5 acres at 5266 MacArthur Road.

The board expressed concern about overgrown trees being too close to and hanging out over the street. In some developments in the past, township public works trucks have struck overgrown trees while doing maintenance work or snow removal.

The developer’s plans include rebuilding the stormwater system on the property, and including a garage and a space for parking outside of the townhouses.

Also at the meeting, the board discussed three bills deferring the required installation of sidewalks along different sections of the property in the proposed development.

The three bills would defer the installation of sidewalks along the MacArthur Road frontage of 5266 MacArthur Road, as well as along the east side of Eagle View Lane and along the east side of Mason Lane.

The board also considered a bill allowing for the purchase of several new police vehicles for $160,000, including two 2018 Dodge Charger vehicles.

Another bill would authorize the purchase of a $36,000 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe four-wheel drive vehicle for the township fire department

The board will vote on the bills and resolutions at its February 12 regular meeting.

Also to be considered at next Monday’s meeting will be two reappointments: John Delserro to the Environmental Advisory Council, and Joseph Wilfinger to the Recreation Commission, representing the Whitehall Historical Preservation Society.
