Whitehall Township police responding to incident

Some residents told to 'shelter in place'

WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. - Whitehall Township police have told some South Fourth Street residents to shelter in place as authorities respond to an incident.

Some township residents received automated phone calls Thursday morning telling residents to shelter in place due to police activity along South Fourth Street between Coplay and School streets.

The Lehigh County communications center said only that authorities were dispatched about 12:30 a.m., and that it's a "police incident."

The Whitehall Township Police Department is expected to release more information on the incident later today.
