Wilson police warn of possible telephone scam

WILSON, Pa. - The Wilson Police Department in Northampton County is warning the public about a possible scam.

A borough resident got a voice mail message from a man alleging to be from the "Department of Legal Affairs," police said.

The message warned of "serious trouble" if the resident didn't call back to discuss a legal matter, police said. The caller also implied the resident would have the send money.

Police want residents to know there's no such department, and they said law enforcement agencies would never solicit money over the phone in this way.
