Woman charged after argument escalates to stabbing

Police said she was arguing with ex-boyfriend

U. MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. - Authorities in Lehigh County allege that a spat between exes ended with a stab wound from a rainbow-colored knife.

Upper Macungie Township police charged Diamond Jenkins, no confirmable address, with single counts of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment in connection with the alleged attack Monday evening in the Breinigsville area of the township. District Judge Michael Faulkner arraigned the 20-year-old Wednesday night, setting bail at $50,000.

Police were dispatched to an apartment in the 1000 block of Mosser Road shortly after 6 p.m. Monday to investigate an assault report. When officers arrived, they found the victim with red marks on is face and a stab wound to his lower back, according to court records.

The victim reported that he and Jenkins, his ex-girlfriend, had been having an argument that escalated into a physical fight. Jenkins allegedly hit her ex-boyfriend in the face several times and pulled a knife with a rainbow-colored handle from her pocket, when he tried to stop her, according to records.

As he struggled to get the knife away from Jenkins, she allegedly stabbed him in the lower back.

The victim’s grandmother reportedly witnessed the stabbing. Jenkins willingly handed her the knife, but then demanded it back before running from the apartment.

The victim was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital for treatment, and police issued a warrant for Jenkins’ arrest. She failed to post bail following her arraignment late Wednesday night and was sent to Lehigh County Jail to await a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 14.
