Woman pulls kids out of rolling car with driver passed out

SOUTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. - An Allentown man was charged after he was found passed out in his car with two children, and the car started rolling.

South Whitehall Township police say a woman pulled the kids, ages four and six, out of the vehicle when it started moving.

Officers said they found Michael Gubitosi, 36, passed out at the wheel at the intersection of Winchester and Crackersport roads Saturday.

Police said the woman pulled up behind the car and noticed it wasn't moving. She told police Gubitosi was passed out or asleep at the wheel and the car was running.

She beeped her horn and banged on the window to try to wake the man, when the vehicle started rolling forward into the intersection, according to court paperwork.

The woman then pulled the children out of the vehicle while it was moving.

Police said officers had to wake up Gubitosi, who was confused as to why they were there and kept falling back asleep.

After being given Narcan in an ambulance, officials said he was more alert.

Police found cocaine in Gubitosi's car and only one car seat. He is charged with endangering the welfare of children.
