Woman set fire to vacant home with baby just feet away

WALNUTPORT, Pa. - A woman is behind bars, accused of setting a vacant Northampton County home on fire with her 5-month-old baby just 10 feet away.

Jillian Faustner, 24, of the 3300 block of S. Fifth St., Whitehall, faces a slew of charges including endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say she torched the uninhabited home at 773 Almond Road in Walnutport just before 1 p.m. Tuesday.

According to authorities, she set a box on fire with a torch lighter and the fire spread to the roof, causing extensive damage.

Police say the suspect's daughter was inside a car just feet away from the flames.

According to court documents, Faustner told police that her mother had told her to come get her things within 48 hours or they would burn them...so she decided to go ahead and burn them.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Faustner is charged with arson, causing or risking catastrophe,, endangering the welfare of children, criminal mischief and dangerous burning.

She was sent to Northampton County Prison under $25,000 bail.
