Woman trapped after vehicle hits house in Allentown

Driver hurt; female resident trapped upstairs as impact damages staircase

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A woman was trapped inside her home after a vehicle hit it early Monday morning.

A man lost control of his vehicle around 6:15 a.m. and crashed into the side of a home in the 300 block of Chapel Avenue, officials said.

The impact damaged the home, including the interior staircase, leading to the woman being stuck upstairs until firefighters could get a ladder to her.

The woman wasn't hurt, but the driver was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township for treatment of his injuries.
