Young man's legacy lives on in memorial blood drive

SALISBURY TWP., Pa. - Many rolled up their sleeves to keep a legacy alive in Lehigh County on Wednesday.

A blood drive was held at Salisbury High School in honor of Wayne Leibensperger, who was killed in an accident on Route 22 in March.

Leibensperger was an avid blood donor, and at the young age of 21, he had already hit the milestone of donating a gallon of blood.

"His life was cut short. His legacy was to see how many lives he could save in his own lifetime. So, we're going to keep that legacy alive by doing this annually," said Deana Leibensperger, Wayne's mom.

A second blood drive was held at St. James Lutheran Church in Coopersburg, Lehigh County.
