'You're not arresting me,' woman tells police

She allegedly bit an officer, spit in his face

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Authorities said it took three police officers to get an Allentown woman into a squad car after she allegedly bit an officer on the thigh and spit in his face.

Bethlehem police charged Lindsay I. Mantz, of Penn Street, with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct following the fracas Tuesday night along Leibert Street. District Judge Ronald Manescu arraigned the 31-year-old Wednesday morning, setting bail at $25,000.

Officers responded to Leibert Street and Eighth Avenue about 9:45 p.m. to investigate a report of a man and woman fighting. When police arrived, they found Mantz yelling, screaming and cursing as she walked along, according to court records.

Several residents came out of their homes when the heard Mantz yelling “(expletive) you” and “(expletive) him,” according to records. Police said they dealt with an agitated Mantz earlier in the evening after a dispute with her father. She had been walking to Allentown, but did an about face and tried to return to her father’s home, police said.

As an officer tried to apprehend her, Mantz began pulling away and said, “You’re not arresting me,” according to police. She continued to struggle and was eventually taken to the ground. As one officer tried to grab an arm, she allegedly lunged forward and bit another officer in the thigh, breaking skin.

“Yeah, I bit you,” she allegedly yelled before spitting in his face. It took three officers to put a handcuffed Mantz into a police car.

Mantz failed to post bail and was sent to Lehigh County Jail to await a May 31 preliminary hearing.
