Mack Opens New Customer Center

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A Lehigh Valley icon is flexing its muscles.

It's a new move by Mack.

Mack trucks has had a bumpy road for a couple of years but now the company is trying to reinforce its presence in the market.

Tuesday night officials opened the doors to the new Mack Customer Center.

With its distinct logo at every turn, it's clear the new Customer Center in Allentown was built like a Mack.

It's overwhelming, said Steve Parker. It's really very, very impressive.

Mack Trucks officially opened the doors to the new Center during the company's World Sales Conference which draws about a thousand dealers from all over the world.

I think this really nails it down that Mack is built here in the Lehigh Valley, said Mack President and CEO Denny Slagle.

Mack's main manufacturing facilities are located in Macungie but two years ago, as part of a restructuring plan, the company announced its headquarters was moving from Allentown to Greensboro, North Carolina.

When we moved headquarters that was all part of a plan to move the backroom and unfortunately a lot of very tough decisions but we never thought of taking Mack out of the Lehigh Valley, said Slagle.

This Customer Center was also part of the plan.

Mack believes this new center will put its dealers and customers back in the driver's seat.

I think this will definitely be a springboard for Mack to reassert itself in the marketplace, said Mack Truck Dealer Steve Parker.

Created inside the company's former engineering development and test center, the Customer Center includes a showroom, a museum and heritage center, and a cafe. It's all designed with the customer in mind.

Hopefully we will be filling your hotels, your restaurants, and of course hopefully getting a lot of people back to work for Mack, said Slagle.

The address of the new center is:

Mack Customer Center 2402 South Lehigh Parkway (near the Queen City Airport off Lehigh Street) Allentown, PA
