Man accused of stealing Christmas gifts from youth group

READING, Pa. - A Reading man is facing charges after police say they busted him stealing Christmas presents from a local youth group.

Police say it happened Thursday at the Hope Rescue Mission on South 6th Street.

Investigators say a local youth group was storing some Christmas gifts in the gym at the mission when some of the presents went missing.

Police say Bautista Ortega-Hernandez was caught on video entering the gym.

A mission employee told police that he saw the stolen Bibles, candy canes and other gifts in Ortega-Hernandez's backpack.

Ortega-Hernandez has been charged with theft.

The shelter says that all the gifts were returned.
