Man Impersonates Police Officer

Attacks Driver

Police Impersonator TEST

BARTONSVILLE, Pa. - Police in Monroe County are looking for an imposter who posed as a police officer and threatened a driver. Officials say the imposter and a passenger stopped the victim with a car that looked like a patrol car.  It was here along Route 33 in Monroe County where one driver got the scare of his life. Early Sunday morning. Red and blue police lights appeared in his rear view mirror. It looked like a police car but cops say this was an imposter a bogus officer.

Robert Baldwin, driver "I think it's kind of scary. You see the blue lights, yeah, you know to pull over. You wouldn't think anything like that."

The victim followed the fake police car here to Route 611 near Bartonsville. That's where the real police say the imposter and his passenger got out of the car and threatened the victim before driving away. The phony police car is a newer. Dark grey sedan with Pennsylvania plates partially saying JMH51. Police describe the first suspect as a black man in his 20s or 30s. He's roughly six-foot-four between 220 and 240 pounds. He was wearing a bandana, a black and white tank top, jeans and sneakers. The second suspect is a Hispanic man. Very short -- only five feet tall. Around 150 pounds.. With black curly hair.. A partial beard. He was wearing a light colored t-shirt and jeans. The news is unsettling to local drivers.

David silverstein, driver "Technology's getting more advanced and these guys know they can take advantage of the undercover cops and how they have the lights in the little dashboard, so they can do the same thing to get what they want."

Robert baldwin, driver "What are you supposed to look for though? You know, you see the blue lights, you pull over. I guess if they get out of the car and they look suspicious, you can get on the phone and call the cops."

Reporter The real cops want you.
