STROUDSBURG, Pa. - If there's one thing the Stroud Area Regional Police learned Tuesday: Tommy Lee Miller was a man of his word.
Officers were dispatched to meet with the 19-year-old man around 1:50 a.m. in the Perkins Restaurant parking lot at 1215 Main Street in Stroudsburg, Monroe Co.
Miller told them he wanted his bail revoked and to return to jail.
Police said Miller was out on bail after being charged for fleeing and eluding, in addition to traffic offenses from an incident on Oct. 27.
When officers explained that they weren't authorized to revoke bail, police said Miller became irate, walked off and said he would just rob a store to get put into jail.
Officers watched Miller cross the parking lot, enter the nearby Pump and Pantry convenience store at 1229 Main Street, pick up an object from the counter, then walk outside without paying.
Police said Miller had money in his hand, and he looked at the nearest officer and said, "I told you I was going to do it."
Officers arrested Miller and charged him with robbery and theft by unlawful taking.
