Man surrenders after mom's body found in freezer

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia man has surrendered to police after the body of his elderly mother was found in a basement freezer.

Philadelphia police said 58-year-old William Carrasquillo surrendered Thursday afternoon.

Police spokeswoman Jillian Russell said he will be charged with abuse of a corpse.

The body of 83-year-old Andrea Carrasquillo was found in her home Tuesday morning.
Police are awaiting a determination on how she died.

It's not clear whether Carrasquillo has an attorney.
