Monroe Co - Kemmertown Rd Bridge Closure

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) have closed the Kemmertown Road Bridge over Cherry Creek in Hamilton Township, Monroe County.

The bridge is closed due to severe deterioration to the deck and beams. In April 2010 the bridge was posted with a three ton weight restriction and a single 10 foot wide travel lane controlled by stop signs at both ends. The bridge is located on Kemmertown Road between Middle and Cherry Valley roads.

The detour route is Cherry Valley Road, PA 191/Godfrey Ridge Road and Poplar Valley Road.

There is a project being designed to replace the bridge, and final design is estimated to be complete in early-to-mid 2015 with construction estimated to begin soon after.

The Kemmertown Road Bridge is a concrete encased steel I-beam bridge built in 1918 and is 29 feet long and 19 feet wide. This area of Kemmertown Road has an average daily traffic of 705 vehicles.
