Montgomery County: I-476 between Mid County toll plaza & I-76

Southbound lane closures will be in place several nights next week (Oct. 11-15) on Interstate 476 in Montgomery County for construction between the Pennsylvania Turnpike Mid-County and Interstate 76 (Exit 16) interchanges, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today.

The contractor?s lane closure schedule on I-476 is as follows:

· Wednesday (Oct. 13) from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m., periodic traffic stoppages of up to 15 minutes will occur on the two lanes of southbound I-476 on the southbound side of the highway between the Mid-County and I-76 (Exit 16) interchanges;

· From 7 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 13) until 5 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 14), one of the two lanes on the southbound side of I-476 will be closed between the Mid-County and I-76 (Exit 16) interchanges. In addition, periodic 15 minute stoppages will occur Thursday from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m.

· Thursday and Friday (Oct. 14-15) from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., one of the two lanes on the southbound side of I-476 will be closed between the Mid-County (Exit 20) and I-76 (Exit 16) interchanges.

Flagger-controlled lane closures also may be in place on Matsonford Road at the I-ramp overpasses in West Conshohocken:

· Monday through Friday (Oct. 11-15) from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.;

· Tuesday and Wednesday nights (Oct. 12-13) from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning;

In addition, Chemical Road may be reduced to a single lane in each direction between Ridge Pike and Gallagher Road in Plymouth Township on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 11-12) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving at the I-476 off-ramp.

All scheduled activities are weather dependent and may be postponed in the event of rain.

These operations are part of PennDOT's $71.7 million project to reconstruct 3.5 miles of I-476 between the turnpike interchange and I-76. Reconstruction on the southbound side of I-476 is scheduled to be completed late this year. The northbound side of I-476 will be reconstructed in 2011.
