Motorcyclist hurt in charity ride for Bern Township accident victim

ALSACE TWP., Pa. - A motorcyclist participating in a charity ride today was hit by a car, other bikers in the event said.

It happened at Pricetown Road and Elizabeth Avenue in Alsace Township, Berks County in front of the Blind Hartman's Tavern.

State Police say the motorcyclist, Keith Weand, was rushed to the hospital.

He's listed in serious condition.

Riders were out to raise funds for Jeremy Gerhart who was involved in an accident on Route 222 last month.

The event at the finish line of that bike ride included games, giveaways and door prizes.

Proceeds support Gerheart, who at last check, remained in a coma at Reading Hospital.

He was thrown from his pick-up truck in an accident on Route 222 on August 21st.

The group is planning other fundraisers.
