Nation reflects on life of George Bush

The nation paused to reflect on the life and legacy of the 41st president of the United States.

The pomp and pageantry of the state funeral for George H.W. Bush played out today inside the Washington National Cathedral. Those who eulogized the former president each captured the successive roles he played in his lifetime: World War II flyboy, statesman, friend and father.

"So through our tears let us know the blessing of knowing and loving you, a great and noble man, the best father a son or daughter could have, and in our grief, I just smile knowing that dad is hugging Robin and holding mom's hand again," said President George W. Bush.

President George H.W. Bush led a life of service as a Navy pilot, congressman, CIA director, ambassador, and vice president. He died last Friday at his Texas home at the age of 94.
