Nazareth teacher Shawn Salevsky in court on sex assault charges

Teacher faces sex abuse charges

NAZARETH, Pa. - A Northampton County school teacher accused of sexually assaulting a student at school is in court Wednesday.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled Wednesday afternoon for Nazareth Middle School teacher Shawn Salevsky.

Salevsky was arrested last month after a student claimed he touched him inappropriately several times between January of 2011 and March of this year.

Officials say the student claims the incidents took place in the school's auditorium and the theater room.

Salevsky, who is from Macungie, Lehigh County, is facing a number of charges including involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault and corruption of minors.
