NCAA RUNDOWN: Alvernia, Del Val win championships

Alvernia and Delaware Valley each won conference championships on Saturday.

The Crusaders got 30 points and 11 rebounds from Brian Parker in a 78-68 win over Lycoming in Reading to claim the MAC Commonwealth Conference crown.

Parker was named the tournament MVP for his efforts.

Lamont Clark added 18 points and eight rebounds, while Terrance Bridgers had 14.


For the second time in three years, Delaware Valley beat DeSales to win the MAC Freedom Conference championship.

Jeremy Beckett scored 25 points and 10 rebounds and was named tournament MVP.

Brett Moyer had 19 points and 26 rebounds to lead DeSales.


Penn State-Berks fell to Wells College 82-61 in the NEAC semifinal round.


West Chester beat East Stroudsburg 83-76 at Koehler Field House to take the inside track for the No. 1 seed in the upcoming PSAC East Tournament.
