ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Fins up for a free performance by Jimmy Buffett at the New Jersey shore this weekend.
Thousands of Jimmy Buffett fans, affectionately known as "Parrotheads," are expected to flock to the newly-named LandShark Beach in Atlantic City on Saturday for a free concert, which has been on the schedule since last month. Buffett's appearance wasn't announced by Resorts until Thursday.
The concert will christen Buffett's new Margaritaville restaurant at Resorts Casino. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie helped to cut the ribbon on the $35-million Margaritaville-themed casino, dining and entertainment complex over the Memorial Day weekend. Now, it's the fans' turn to celebrate, Resorts officials said.
Musicians Andy Grammer, Mac McAnally and Wilson Phillips are scheduled to perform between 1 p.m. and 9 p.m. Buffett is scheduled to make his special appearance at 4 p.m.
Buffett joined Christie on the boardwalk in Atlantic City last July to announce the opening of the Margaritaville complex at the city's oldest casino. The complex includes the Margaritaville restaurant on the lower level of the Resorts hotel, the Landshark Bar & Grill restaurant on the beach side of the boardwalk, a coffee shop, two gift stores and 160 slot machines.
