Long Beach Island, New Jersey, thanking Sandy responders

LONG BEACH TWP., N.J. - Residents of New Jersey's Long Beach Island are saying "thank you" this weekend to the hundreds of first responders who helped after Superstorm Sandy, including some state troopers from Louisiana.

The "LBI Thank You Fest" began Friday with a concert in Ship Bottom.

It will continue Saturday at Brant Beach in Long Beach Township with a day of activities featuring music, food vendors, children's activities and arts and crafts.

The event will end Sunday in Beach Haven with sidewalk sales.

Long Beach Township Mayor Joseph Mancini is urging everyone to come out to show their support to the New Jersey and out-of-state first responders who came to LBI's aid. He said more than 20 Louisiana state troopers have been flown in so they can attend.
