Train strikes 3 teens, 2 killed

WAYNE, N.J. - A train struck three teens Sunday evening, killing two of them and leaving a third injured.

The incident happened just before 10:00 in Wayne, N.J., which is just outside Paterson.

NJ Transit authorities said the trio were on a railroad bridge over Route 46 when they were struck.

They said one of the boys was able to jump down an embankment. He was taken to a hospital in Paterson, N.J. but officials have not said how badly he was injured.

Officials said the train was on the way to a maintenance yard, and had no passengers on board.

Police are still trying to determine why the boys were on the tracks.

Their names, and hometowns, have not yet been released.
