Senators in Harrisburg are looking at limiting abortion coverage.
On Tuesday, the state Senate's Banking and Insurance Committee approved a bill that bans coverage of elective abortions by insurance policies offered in Pennsylvania's health insurance marketplace.
That marketplace was created by the federal health care law and it starts next year.
People could still buy supplemental abortion coverage outside Pennsylvania's marketplace.
A similar bill is pending in the state House.
Both chambers passed versions of this bill last year but the bills died because lawmakers couldn't reconcile the differences between them.
