Presidents' Day trivia
Presidents' Day is one of several federal holidays on which Americans can be proud of all our country has accomplished, thanks to United States presidents past and present.
"Barack Obama," said Taylor, 4, of Reading, when asked if she knew who the current president is.
Presidents' Day, celebrated on the third Monday of February, started out as a day to honor our first commander-in-chief, George Washington.
As time passed, it was proposed that Washington's special day should be renamed Presidents' Day to also honor our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, whose birthday is on February 12.
Now, it is a day to honor the accomplishments of all of our presidents.
When asked which four presidents' faces are on Mount Rushmore, Sharon Sova, of Boyertown, Berks Co., said, "Lincoln, Washington, Roosevelt and Jefferson."
When asked which two presidents died on the same day, July 4, 1826, Sova said, "Thomas Jefferson and James Madison."
Nope.
"The correct answer is John Adams and... Thomas Jefferson," said Brian Kapner, of Reading. James Monroe, the fourth president, died five years later, on July 4, 1831.
When asked who was the heaviest president, Sova said, "Taft."
"Reagan," said Len Carmen, of Reading, when asked who was the oldest elected president.
