READING, Pa. -

Some students at Albright College in Reading are taking a dip to raise cash.

The Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity is holding its eighth annual Pond-A-Thon to benefit the Homes for our Troops organization.

Members are taking turns wading in Sylvan Pond. They started at noon Wednesday and will be there for 48 hours.

"This gives the brothers of Alpha Sigma Phi the ability to not only give back to one of our national philanthropic partners but to also give back to a dedicated group of heroes who are very deserving of every penny that we raise," said Michael Sloboda, president of the Albright chapter.

The students are also taking donations and selling T-shirts.

The fraternity hopes to exceed the $4,000 it raised last year. Proceeds benefit the Homes for Our Troops organization.
