A man suspected of robbing a bank last month was apparently familiar with the bank -- he was a customer.
Abner Belk has admitted to police he robbed the Metro Bank on State Hill Road in Wyomissing, Berks Co., on May 26, police said.
A bank employee got a description of Belk's car after the heist, said police, adding that the description, plus surveillance video, helped officers identify Belk as the suspect.
Police said they also compared the note used during the robbery to some of Belk's handwritten checks, and the comparison linked him to the heist. Belk has accounts with Metro Bank and made three cash deposits after the robbery, according to court documents. An envelope containing cash was also found in Belk's apartment, officials said.
Belk, 51, of Reinholds, Lancaster Co., was committed to the Berks County Jail on charges of robbery, receiving stolen property, terroristic threats and simple assault.
