Dive team trains in Berks County

BERKS COUNTY, Pa. -

Berks County's Water Rescue Task Force was spending time training in the water Saturday.

They were at the River Front Park in Pottstown practicing boat maneuvers to use in possible rescue attempts.

Crew members also did some river diving exercises.

The task force captain said they are preparing to be better coordinated in water emergency situations.

"There's no better training than on the job training. That's what we are trying to do. You can read everything you want in books, but it's not going teach you what you need to know than by doing it hands on," said Tony Boyd, Boyertown-Keystone Fire Rescue Captain.

The group is made up of firefighters from five different departments in the county.

Members said they try and get out in the water at least twice a month to practice.
