Christians flock to church for Ash Wednesday services

Many Christians are observing the start of Lent.

Catholics received ashes in the sign of the cross for Ash Wednesday at Holy Guardian Angels in Muhlenberg Twp., Berks Co.

The ashes are a reminder that Lent is a time of baptismal renewal.

Lent lasts six weeks. It culminates with Easter, which is Sun., March 31 this year.
