Controversial plan for cell phone tower in Reading delayed

READING, Pa. -

A proposal to put a cellphone tower near a Reading neighborhood has been put on hold.

Officials with Verizon Wireless said they were considering putting a tower in the 1000 block of North 6th Street.

Neighbors said they were upset that the tower was going to be put so close to their homes and businesses.

Officials with the city said the zoning board delayed the hearing because Verizon is considering putting the tower in a different location.
